Required Documents
- Valid passport: issued within the last 10 years, contains at least two blank pages, and valid for at least 3 months after the intended date of departure from the Member States.
- Completed and signed Schengen C visa application form (download from the official consular site) and biometric data (if applicable).
- One passport-size colour photo (recent, not older than 6 months) meeting Schengen photo requirements.
- Proof of travel: intended means of transport and itinerary (e.g., flight reservation).
- Proof of accommodation for the whole stay (hotel reservation or, for package tours, certificate from travel agency; if staying with family/friends, proof of private accommodation/invitation).
- Proof of sufficient financial means: original bank statements showing transactions for the last 3 months (stamped and signed by the bank) and Indian ITR acknowledgements for the last three assessment years; if employed, last 3 months’ payslips, employment contract and employer’s leave approval; if self-employed, company registration (and GST) documents; if sponsored, sponsor’s financial documents as above.
- Travel medical insurance from the approved list that covers the full duration of the trip (including return) as required for Schengen visa procedure.
- For minors: notarised written consent of the non-travelling parent(s)/guardian(s) if travelling with only one parent or alone; copy of ID of parent(s)/guardian(s); proof of sole custody where applicable.
- Purpose-specific documents for tourism: prepaid hotel/accommodation reservation or a certificate from the travel agency (for organised trips); detailed itinerary and means of travel between Member States if visiting multiple countries.
- Proof of visa fee payment (the fee must be collected; fee amount not specified on the provided pages).
- Lodge the application within six months before intended travel; applications are submitted via the VFS VACs (use the official VFS link provided by the consulate) according to the local consular jurisdiction (Mumbai or New Delhi as applicable).
Passport must have at least two blank pages; issued within the previous 10 years; valid for at least 3 months after intended date of departure from the territory of the Member States.

Original bank statements for the last 3 months (stamped and signed by the bank) and Indian income tax return acknowledgements for the last three assessment years; if employed: last 3 months’ payslips, employment contract and employer’s leave approval; if self-employed: company registration (and GST) documents; sponsor must provide equivalent financial proof if sponsoring.
Travel medical insurance from the approved list (GI council/approved Indian insurers) covering the full duration of the trip including the return journey.
Proof of intended means of transport and itinerary (flight bookings) and proof of accommodation for the entire stay (hotel reservation or travel agency certificate; invitation/private accommodation proof if staying with friends/family).
If travelling with only one parent: written consent certified by a public notary from the other parent/guardian (unless sole custody proof provided). If travelling alone: notarised consent from both parents/guardians plus copies of parents’/guardians’ ID documents.
Decision on visa applications is normally within 15 calendar days; in individual cases this may be extended up to a maximum of 45 calendar days. Applications must be lodged within 6 months of the intended visit. Biometric data collection and VFS appointment procedures apply as per the consulate/VFS instructions.
Visa fee must be paid and is non-refundable in case of refusal (exact amount not specified on the provided pages). Appeals against refusal have specified time limits and fees (see consular page).
