Required Documents
- Completed and signed Schengen C visa application form (download from the official consular site).
- Valid passport: issued within last 10 years, at least 2 blank pages, and validity extending at least 3 months beyond the intended date of departure from the Schengen area.
- One passport‑size colour photo (not older than 6 months) meeting Schengen photo requirements.
- Proof of intended means of transport and itinerary (flight reservation/ticket).
- Proof of accommodation for the entire stay (prepaid hotel reservation or confirmation; if staying with family/friend, proof of sponsorship/private accommodation).
- Travel medical insurance covering entire trip (including return) and additional 15 days, minimum EUR 30,000 coverage; use insurers listed/approved for Schengen procedure (see embassy’s approved list).
- Proof of financial means: original bank account statement showing transactions for the last 3 months (stamped/signed), and income tax return acknowledgement for the last 3 assessment years (if applicable).
- If employed: employer’s reference, employment contract and payslips for the last 3 months and employer’s approval for leave.
- If self‑employed/company owner: company registration documents and tax/payment evidence (e.g. GST for India).
- If sponsored: sponsor’s bank statements, proof of relationship, sponsor’s ID/passport copy and sponsorship letter.
- If student: certificate of enrollment and proof of leave/permission from educational institution; if applicable, sponsorship documents.
- Minors: notarised written consent of the non‑traveling parent(s)/guardian(s) if traveling with only one parent or alone; copy of parents’/guardians’ ID; court order if sole custody.
- Copies of passport identity pages and copies of any Schengen visas held in the last 3 years (if applicable).
- Purpose‑specific documents for tourism: booking confirmation(s), detailed itinerary and means of travel between Schengen states (if visiting multiple states, accommodation proof for each).
- Biometric data will be collected if applicable; visa fee must be paid on submission (amount not stated on these pages).
- Applications must be lodged within 6 months of the intended visit; submit supporting documents as specified by the consulate/VFS (consul may request additional documents).

Proof of transport and itinerary (flight reservations/tickets); round‑trip or onward travel proof; accommodation reservations for whole stay (and for each Schengen country if visiting multiple states).
If travelling with one parent: notarised consent of the other parent/guardian (or court order for sole custody). If travelling alone: notarised consent of both parents/guardians. Provide copies of parents’/guardians’ ID.
Decision normally within 15 calendar days; may be extended up to 45 calendar days in individual cases. In India, short‑stay (C) visa applications are submitted via VFS Global per consular jurisdiction (see embassy/consulate pages for VAC locations and appointment procedures). Appeal must be lodged in writing within the time limits stated by the consulate; visa fees are not reimbursed in case of refusal.
Official pages state that nationals of India require a valid Schengen C visa to enter Hungary and that a visa is only a preliminary permission — border authorities may still require proof of conditions of entry and return. The official pages do not state the visa application fee amount; consult the consulate/VFS for current fee and for the embassy’s approved list of insurers.
