Required Documents
- Apply in advance via the official France-Visas portal (online application) โ do not expect eVisa or visa-on-arrival for Indian nationals.
- Submit application file in India through the appointed channel/service provider (e.g., VFS) or French consulate as instructed on France-Visas.
- Book and attend biometric/photo appointment (fingerprints and photo collected) at the service provider/consulate.
- Timing: file application no more than 6 months and no later than 5 days before departure; typical decision time about 15 days.
- Valid passport: issued less than 10 years ago and valid for at least 3 months after intended departure; must have at least two blank pages.
- Passport-size photo meeting France-Visas specs (recent, 35โ40 mm wide, plain light background, taken within 6 months).
- Proof of sufficient funds (means of subsistence) โ acceptable: bank statements, payslips, cards, travellers cheques; guidance: โฌ65/day if staying in a hotel, โฌ120/day if no hotel booking.
- Proof of accommodation for the whole stay (hotel booking) or original attestation dโaccueil if staying with a private host (attestation must be validated by the town hall).
- Return ticket or proof you can buy one (return/onward travel evidence).
- Travel insurance / insurance certificate covering medical treatment, emergency hospital costs and medical repatriation (and death costs).
- Minors: own passport required; where applicable supply parental authorization / consent forms as available on France-Visas or French diplomatic sites.
- No special arrival validation (OFII) is required for a standard short-stay tourist visa โ OFII applies to certain long-stay visas only.
