Required Documents

  1. Complete and personally sign the Schengen visa application form (Visum C for tourism).
  2. Passport photos: colour, portrait format, 35 x 45 mm, meeting ICAO/passport photo criteria.
  3. Valid travel document (passport) issued within the last 10 years, with at least two empty pages, and valid for at least three months beyond the end of the intended visa period.
  4. Recording of biometric data (ten fingerprints and a photo) in person unless fingerprints were collected within the last 59 months; children under 12 are exempt from fingerprints.
  5. Fully comprehensive travel health insurance valid for the entire planned stay and the entire Schengen area with minimum cover of EUR 30,000.
  6. Proof of sufficient means of subsistence for the duration of the stay and for return to country of origin/ residence.
  7. Supporting evidence as required (e.g. hotel reservations/booking confirmations, invitation letter, return flight booking, proof of employment).
  8. Copy of passport data page and copies of any previous Schengen visas, if applicable.
  9. Translations: supporting documents may require a German translation on request; English documents do not require translation unless requested.
  10. Submit application in person at the Austrian Embassyโ€™s designated application centres (applications in India are lodged via the external service provider VFS after booking an appointment).
  11. Timing: applications must be submitted no earlier than 6 months and no later than 15 days before planned departure. Applications with departure less than 15 days after application will be rejected.
