Required Documents
- Completed and personally signed Schengen visa application form (Schengen visa – application).
- Passport: issued within last 10 years, at least 2 empty pages, and valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended duration of stay.
- Passport-size photo (portrait format) 35 x 45 mm meeting ICAO/passport photo criteria.
- Recording of biometric data (ten fingerprints and a photograph) unless fingerprints were collected within the last 59 months; applicants must appear in person. Children under 12 are exempt from giving fingerprints.
- Comprehensive travel health insurance covering at least €30,000, valid for the entire Schengen area for the planned duration of the stay.
- Proof of sufficient means of subsistence for the duration of the intended stay and for the return journey (amount not specified on these pages).
- Supporting evidence as requested (examples given: hotel reservations, booking confirmations, invitation letters, return flight ticket, proof of employment).
- Copy of passport data page and copies of any previous Schengen visas, if applicable.
- Submit application via the appointed application centre (VFS) in India; the Austrian Embassy (BMEIA) assesses applications. Applicants must generally be habitually resident in the consular district of the embassy handling the application.
- Timing: visa applications may be lodged no earlier than 6 months and no later than 15 days before departure; applications with departure less than 15 days after application will be rejected under the EU Visa Code.
