Spain Visa Checklist — India Passport (Visa Required)
Tourist · Schengen short-stay (Schengen visa — up to 90 days in any 180-day period)
Required Documents
- Completed and signed Schengen visa application form (minor: signed by parent/guardian as required).
- Recent passport-size colour photograph on light background (see photo requirements).
- Valid passport: original and copy of biometric/data page(s); passport valid at least 3 months after planned departure from Schengen; issued within the last 10 years; at least 2 blank pages.
- Front page of travel medical insurance (min. coverage €30,000; covers repatriation, urgent/ emergency healthcare and hospital treatment for the entire stay and Schengen area).
- Visa fee payment (generally €90 for applicants aged 12 and over; €45 for children 6–12; free under 6).
- Documents proving purpose and specifics of trip: cover letter, round‑trip flight booking, confirmed hotel reservation or invitation letter from host in Spain (invitation issued by Spanish National Police if visiting family).
- Proof of financial means: original, stamped and signed bank statement(s) and other supporting documents (see financial requirements and consulate specifics below).
- Income documents: ITR (last 2 years) and/or salary slips (last 3 months) and PAN copy, if applicable; sponsor documents (if sponsored): original stamped & signed bank statements of sponsor, signed sponsor letter and proof of relationship.
- Proof of residence in the consular district (e.g., recent utility bill ≤6 months, lease, house deed).
- Itinerary / travel plan with dates and places.
- If applicant is a minor: signed application by parents/legal guardians, notarized parental authorization when required, and self-attested copies of parents’ passports (see minor requirements).
- Any additional documents requested by the Consular Office (they may call for interview or extra papers).
- Submit application in person through the authorised Visa Application Centre (BLS Spain) for this Consular Office.
Passport must be valid at least 3 months after planned date of departure from Schengen, must have been issued within the last 10 years, and contain at least 2 blank pages.
Recent passport-size colour photograph on a light background, facing forward; no dark/reflective glasses or garments concealing the oval of the face. For minors, no part of an adult holding them should appear in the photo.
For 2026: demonstrate €122.10 per person per day (or equivalent) multiplied by number of days and persons travelling, with a minimum of €1,098.90 per person regardless of length of stay. Economic means may be proven by original stamped & signed bank statements, traveller’s cheques, credit card with bank statement, up-to-date bank book, or equivalent. Additional documents requested may include ITR (last 2 years), salary slips (last 3 months) and PAN copy. Travel medical insurance covering repatriation for medical reasons or death and urgent/emergency medical and hospital treatment for the entire stay and for the whole Schengen area; minimum coverage €30,000. Submit the front page of the policy; for multiple-entry visas the insurance must cover the first planned entry and applicant must undertake to insure future trips.
Round-trip flight booking (recommended not to buy tickets before visa decision), confirmed hotel reservation or reservation of organized trip, or a Spanish host invitation issued by the Spanish National Police. Cover letter explaining purpose and detailed itinerary/travel plan.
If applicant under 18: application form must be signed by parents/legal guardians; submit notarized authorization letter if the minor applies alone or travels without both parents; provide self-attested copies of passports of both parents/legal guardians. At border: minors travelling with an ID and not accompanied by a parent need authorization from one parent.
Apply in person through the authorised BLS Spain visa centre for this Consular Office. Applications accepted between 6 months and 15 days before travel (seafarers up to 9 months). Biometric data (photo and fingerprints) captured at application (exemptions: under 12 years old or fingerprints taken within last 59 months). Standard decision period: 15 calendar days from submission (may be extended up to 45 days if additional documents or interview required). Visa does not guarantee entry — border authorities may request proof of purpose/means at arrival.
Enter via an authorised border-crossing point and be prepared to present documentation proving identity, purpose of stay, and sufficient financial means. Applicants found to have exhausted their 90/180-day entitlement or subject to an entry ban will be denied entry. Follow specific instructions of the Spanish Consular Office handling your application.
